School Trip to Westminster Abbey

The Art and RE departments arranged an educational visit to Westminster Abbey for students to take part in a workshop.The students had a tour of the Abbey and learnt about the history of the building.
They then learnt about 'Icons' and their religious, spiritual and artistic significance. They then took part in a practical workshop where they were taught how to 'write' their own icon, and were able to use gold leaf and egg-tempera paint to make their own icon. The finished art work will soon be displayed in the college.
