Crossing the Bridge

Published on 27 March 2012

The Transition from Primary to Secondary School

During February and March Mount Carmel participated in the Writing through Art Kenwood House Project.  Mount Carmel is working in collaboration with the other local primary schools on this exciting project.

The project inspiration is from a piece of work by the Dutch painter De Jongh called ‘Old London Bridge’ which is on display at Kenwood House.

Students were asked to share their transitional experiences from primary to secondary education through art. Students chose an arch to represent a portrayal of the emotional, social and physical developmental process of this transition. Descriptive words are displayed on acetate expressing art through writing which are reflective of the images on the canvas. This project was coordinated by Ms Joseph, Mr Lobo and Ms Collins.
